The Animals Behind the Brews and Inspiration for our Beers

When you visit Hop Creek Farms, a proud farm brewery in BC, you are doing more than just grabbing a drink. You are stepping onto 33 acres of working farmland where the residents have just as much personality as the good beer in your glass.

We believe that great beer should have a connection to the land and the animals that call it home. That is why many of our craft brews are named after the characters you see wandering the pastures in Brackendale. Here is a look at the famous faces behind your favourite pours at our tasting room and tasting lounge.

The Canned Classics: Take the Farm Brewery Experience Home

Our core lineup is available in cans at our Farm Market, making it easy to grab a four-pack for your next adventure or a backyard barbecue with friends and family.

The Jackass Pilsner: Jonny Ringo and Misty

If you have spent any time near the fences of this farm-based brewery, you have likely met Jonny Ringo and Misty. These two mini woolly donkeys are the inspiration behind our Jackass Pilsner. Jonny Ringo is known for his big personality and his love for snacks, while Misty is a bit sweeter. Both share that classic donkey trait: a stubborn refusal to do anything they do not want to do. We brought that same spirit to our pilsner. It is crisp and clean, but it has a distinct character that stands its ground, showcasing the locality brewing style we embrace.

The Highland Lager: Willow, Lily, and Millie

Our Highland cattle are perhaps the most iconic sight on the working farm. Lily is famously friendly and loves a good chin rub, while Willow and her calf, Millie, keep things peaceful in the pasture. They inspired our Highland Lager, which is as mountain fresh as the air in Squamish. It is brewed to be clean and crisp, reflecting the calm and steady nature of our Highland herd and the rich barley grown here.

The Alpine IPA: Inspired by the Peaks

While not named after a specific animal, the Alpine IPA is inspired by the rugged terrain where our animals roam. This beer captures the zesty lime and tropical fruit notes of New Zealand hops. It is a bold, pillowy IPA that feels like a wave of mountain air, perfect for visitors settling into their favourite cozy spot on our covered patio space. It is the perfect companion for a day spent exploring the Sea to Sky corridor.

Freshly Poured: Beer on Tap in Our Tasting Lounge

If you are joining us at our bar trailer or tasting lounge, you can enjoy some of our most unique creations, poured fresh and enjoyed right here on the farm. Our taproom offers an inclusive environment where guests can relax and enjoy live music and Saturday trivia nights, creating a warm vibe that welcomes all.

    The G.O.A.T. Hazy Pale Ale

You cannot talk about Hop Creek Farms without mentioning our goats. From Petunia and Macchiato to the sassy herd leader, Latte, our goats are always the life of the party. The G.O.A.T. (Greatest of All Time) Hazy Pale Ale is a tribute to their playful, energetic nature. It is a juicy, approachable beer that is always a crowd favourite, just like the goats themselves.

    The Black Angus Nitro Stout

Named after our impressive Black Angus cattle, this imperial stout is all about depth and richness. Served on nitro for a creamy, velvety finish, it reflects the herd's bold, sturdy presence. With notes of chocolate and roasted malt, it is a hearty choice that pairs perfectly with a seat by one of our fire pits, adding to the warm and inclusive atmosphere of our farm brewery.

Come Meet the Crew and Experience Our Story

The best way to experience these beers is to see the inspiration for yourself. When you pull up a seat on our heated patio, keep an eye out for the namesakes. Whether it is Jonny Ringo looking for a treat or the Highland cows enjoying the views, the connection between the pasture and your pint is everywhere you look.

Hop Creek Brewing is proud to be part of the BC Ale Trail and honoured to have won gold at the Canada Beer Cup, recognition that reflects our dedication to creating good beer rooted in locality and community. We welcome visitors from Thursday to Monday to try a flight or grab some cans and say hello to the animals that make our farm brewery so special.

Join us in celebrating the lifestyle of farmhouse brewing, where planting, growing, and brewing come together on our working farm in Squamish. Bring your family, friends, and even your dogs to enjoy our space, food, and warm hospitality. We are grateful to be creating a space that feels like home, a favourite cozy spot for everyone.
