Ingredients
- (1 pound) Beef Ground
- (1 tsp) Garlic
- (1 tsp) Salt
- (1 tsp) Black Pepper
- (4 slices) Mild Cheddar Cheese
- (4) Hamburger Buns (Toasted)
- (as desired) Assorted Toppings
Directions
Preparing grass-fed burgers fully takes 10-15 minutes. Because they cook faster than grain-fed burgers, it is important to monitor the temperature closely while grilling. It is recommended to cook ground beef to an internal temperature of 160 degrees F. However, if you prefer your burgers medium, you can pull them off the grill at around 140 degrees F. A reliable meat thermometer is highly recommended to ensure accurate cooking temperature readings.
Instructions:
- Preheat your grill to medium heat (350 degrees F).
- Divide the ground beef into equal 1/4 pound patties that extend about 1/2 inch wider than the size of the buns.
- Season the patties on all sides with equal parts garlic salt and black pepper.
- Place the patties on the grill grates and cook for 4-6 minutes per side (flipping only once) until they are cooked to the desired doneness. Cook until you reach the recommended internal temperature of 160 degrees F (or 140 F for medium burgers.) If you want cheese on your burgers, be sure to add it during the last few minutes of cooking.
- Remove your burger patties from the grill and assemble on your toasted buns with desired toppings.
Enjoy your Grilled Grass Fed Burgers!
Note
Unlike conventional beef, grass-fed beef benefits from cooking at a lower temperature for a longer period. This method helps to retain moisture and prevent the meat from drying out, which is crucial for maintaining tenderness and juiciness.
Handle your grass-fed burgers gently. Since they lack binders, flipping the patties multiple times or pressing down on them with a spatula can cause them to break apart. Aim to flip each patty just once during the cooking process.
Make the patties about half an inch larger in diameter than the buns for the perfect fit. This slight increase ensures that the meat will cover the bun completely once cooked, resulting in a visually appealing and well-proportioned burger.
