Ingredients

  • (1 lb) Beef Ground
  • (1/2 cup) Mozzarella (shredded)
  • (1/4 cup) Fresh Parmesan (grated)
  • (2 tbsp) Fresh Parsley (chopped)
  • (1) Large Egg (beaten)
  • (1 tsp) Kosher Salt
  • (1 tsp) Kosher Salt
  • (1/2 tsp) Black Pepper (ground)
  • (1 tbsp) Extra Virgin Olive Oil
  • (1) Medium Onion (chopped)
  • (3) Garlic (mined)
  • (1 can) Tomatoes (crushed)
  • (1 tsp) Oregano (dried)

Directions

  1. In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, minced garlic, shredded mozzarella, grated Parmesan, chopped parsley, beaten egg, kosher salt, and black pepper. Mix until just combined. Be careful not to overmix, as this can lead to tougher meatballs.
  2. Form the mixture into 16 meatballs, approximately 1 to 1.5 inches in diameter.
  3. In a large skillet over medium heat, add the extra-virgin olive oil and heat until shimmering. Add the meatballs and cook, turning occasionally, until they are golden brown on all sides, about 10 minutes. Remove the meatballs from the skillet and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to absorb excess oil.
  4. In the same skillet, add the chopped onion and sauté until soft and translucent, about 5 minutes.
  5. Add the minced garlic and cook for an additional minute, stirring frequently to avoid burning.
  6. Pour in the crushed tomatoes and stir in the dried oregano. Season the mixture with kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste.
  7. Return the meatballs to the skillet, cover them, and let them simmer in the sauce for about 15 minutes, allowing the sauce to thicken and the flavours to meld together.
  8. Before serving, garnish the dish with additional grated Parmesan if desired. Enjoy your delicious Keto Meatballs smothered in rich tomato sauce!

Make it a Meal or a Side Dish

Making meatballs is an incredibly quick, fun, and easy culinary experience. With minimal prep time and straightforward steps, you can whip up a delicious dish that the whole family will love. The mixing process is enjoyable and can even involve the kids, making it a delightful bonding activity in the kitchen. Plus, with the ability to customize the ingredients and experiment with different meats and seasonings, you can easily add your personal touch. In just about half an hour, you'll have flavorful meatballs ready to serve, making weeknight dinners less stressful and more enjoyable!

Adding the Finishing Touch

Creating the sauce is the perfect complement to the meatballs, as it allows all the flavours to marry beautifully. Sautéing the onions and garlic enhances their natural sweetness, creating a savoury base that infuses depth into the dish. As the crushed tomatoes are added and simmered with dried oregano, the tanginess of the tomatoes balances the richness of the meatballs, while the seasoning elevates the overall taste. This simmering process lets the ingredients meld together, resulting in a luscious, aromatic sauce that coats the meatballs perfectly, making for a harmonious and satisfying meal.

Your New Favourite Go-To Meal

This meatball and tomato sauce dish is not only delicious but also incredibly versatile, making it a fantastic staple recipe to recreate time and again. The rich flavours from the homemade sauce perfectly complement the tender, cheesy meatballs, creating a satisfying meal that appeals to both adults and children alike. It’s easy to adjust the seasonings or incorporate different herbs to suit personal preferences or seasonal ingredients, allowing for endless variations.

Moreover, the simplicity of the preparation—requiring minimal time and effort—makes this meal perfect for busy weeknights or casual gatherings. Leftovers also taste amazing as the flavours deepen after being stored, making for quick lunches or dinners throughout the week. With its balanced nutritional profile and comforting taste, this dish will undoubtedly earn a permanent spot in your family’s meal rotation.
